- Apply the patch to an intact area of the skin, ideally in the morning when you wake up.
- Wear the patch for 16 hours each day, removing it before bedtime. This mimics the natural fluctuation of nicotine levels throughout the day, avoiding nicotine-induced sleep disturbances.
- Step-down treatment:
- Heavy smokers (more than 10 cigarettes/day) should start with Step 1 (25 mg patch for 8 weeks), then gradually reduce to Step 2 (15 mg patch for 2 weeks) and finally to Step 3 (10 mg patch for 2 weeks).
- Light smokers (less than 10 cigarettes/day) should start with Step 2 (15 mg) for 8 weeks, then reduce to Step 3 (10 mg) for the final 4 weeks.
- Do not use more than one patch per day and do not combine with other nicotine products.
