Bone Density Test:
Osteoporosis is a thinning and weakening of the bones. Bones that areless dense and less strong than normal bones are fragile and more likely to Fracture or break. Osteoporosis can also cause a loss of height (with an accompanying stooped posture), pain and disability.
Our screening service will measure the density of the bone and therefore give an indication as to the strength of the bones and if there could be a risk of osteoporosis.
The screening involves the patient immersing their foot into a foot bath which contains a small amount of water. This bath is attached to a machine which takes a scan of the bone density of the ankle area.
There is no blood sample taken for this screening.
