Bone Density Test:
Bone Density Test looks for the onset of Osteoporosis – a thinning and weakening of the bones.
- Bones that are less dense and less strong than normal bones are fragile and more likely to Fracture or break.
- Osteoporosis can also cause a loss of height (with an accompanying stooped posture), pain and disability.
- Our Bone Density Test Screening service will measure the density of the bone and therefore give an indication as to the strength of the bones and if there could be a risk of osteoporosis.
The Bone Density Test Explained
The screening involves the patient immersing their foot into a foot bath which contains a small amount of water. This bath is attached to a machine which takes a scan of the bone density of the ankle area.
There is no blood sample taken for this screening.
