General Medical Card (GMS) Scheme
People who qualify for medicine at a reduced rate under the General Medical Card Scheme (GMS) include:
- Irish residents over 70 years
- Persons on low income (means tested)
For more information look at the HSE website http://www.hse.ie/eng/services/list/1/schemes/mc/about/
If you do not qualify for a full medical card, you may be entitled to a doctor visit medical card, covering your doctor visits.
If you have a medical card and require a medication that is not allowed under the medical card scheme, we are happy to apply for the medicine through the hardship scheme on your behalf. This scheme considers both the applicant's financial circumstances and the medical necessity for the supply of items. Ask your McCabes Pharmacist for more information.
